8-week course on fall prevention

Are you an older adult or someone who feels unsteady on your feet? You’re not alone, and there are steps you can take to prevent falls and protect your independence. Since falls are the number one cause of Traumatic Brain Injury, learning how to reduce your risk is key to staying healthy and active.

BIASC is offering an 8-week Matter of Balance class designed to help you build confidence, learn practical fall-prevention strategies, and stay active.

Class will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. every Thursday beginning January 29, 2026.

Assertiveness and Fall Prevention
Feb. 26:
Managing Concerns About Falling

Recognizing Fall-ty habits
Mar. 12:
Recognizing Fall Hazards in the Home and Community
Mar. 19:
Practicing No Fall-ty habits / Fall Prevention: Putting it All Together

You Will Learn To:

  • View falls as controllable.

  • Set goals for increasing physical activity.

  • Make changes to reduce fall risks at home.

  • Exercise to increase strength and balance

    Who Should Attend?

  • Anyone concerned about falls.

  • Anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility, and strength.

  • Anyone who has fallen in the past.

  • Anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns.

    Each class will last approximately two hours.
    Light beverages and snacks will be served.
