The SC REAP Manual

One of the best resources for anyone looking to help a student who has sustained a concussion is the South Carolina REAP Manual. The REAP (Reduce/Remove, Educate, Accommodate/Adjust, Pace) protocol is a multidisciplinary approach to Returning to Learn (RTL) and Returning to Play (RTP) that provides support to students, their families, health care providers, and schools. You can download a copy of the South Carolina REAP Manual here and share it with your colleagues and friends.

If you would like to request a hard copy of the REAP Manual, please email the Brain Injury Association of South Carolina’s Safety Net Program Coordinator at safetynetcoordinator@biaofsc.com.

South Carolina Visibility Project

Through the SC Visibility Project, the BIASC provides services and support tote bags to patients with TBI at our state's level 1 trauma centers. We also offer trainings for law enforcement about brain injury and skills needed when assisting brain injury survivors.

Help Line and Resource Facilitation

BIASC maintains a toll-free helpline to provide resource facilitation to individuals with brain injuries. We direct families, service providers, case workers, and brain injury survivors to appropriate resources and services.

Unmasking Brain Injury Project

BIASC partners with other states in the Unmasking Brain Injury Project.  The main goal of this project is to offer brain injury survivors the opportunity to create their own mask, tell their own story, and create opportunities for the masks to be displayed in public places for educational and outreach purposes.

Advocacy

BIASC is the “voice” of brain injury in SC.  BIASC advocates for brain injury services with the SC legislature by meeting with senators and representatives on issues impacting brain injury survivors and caregivers.  BIASC represents the brain injury community by participating in task forces and committees with state agencies and other advocacy groups.
