SC Traumatic Brain Injury Needs Assessment is Released

BIASC is pleased to announce the release of the South Carolina Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Needs Assessment, a comprehensive report that sheds light on the current state of TBI services and support within the community.

About the Needs Assessment

One of the primary goals of this project was to conduct a thorough assessment to identify gaps in data collection, prevention, service delivery, and training. This assessment also aims to develop a sustainable SC TBI State Plan.

To achieve a comprehensive understanding of the gaps in TBI services and support for individuals with TBI and their caregivers, both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods were employed. These included a comprehensive review of existing evidence, hospital surveillance data, interviews, focus groups, and a survey.

A Heartfelt Thank You to the Participants

The report is dedicated to the TBI survivors and their caregivers who generously shared their stories. Their honesty and vulnerability have been instrumental in shaping this assessment. It is an honor for BIASC to amplify their voices and work towards a South Carolina where everyone can thrive.

Looking Forward

This needs assessment is a crucial step in addressing gaps in services and support for TBI survivors and their caregivers in South Carolina. By understanding these gaps, BIASC and its partners can work towards creating a more robust and effective system that ensures every individual has access to the resources they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives.

BIASC expresses its gratitude once again to everyone who participated in this project. Their stories and insights will help us to create a better future through brain injury prevention, research, education, and advocacy.
